And now, a note from KCUV’s midday ace and resident musicologist, G Brown.
As KCUV's executive producer of the "Live from Ebbets Field" benefit CD series, I am fiercely proud of our project. I am also grateful for the people who put in hundreds of hours behind the scenes to make it a reality for our listeners. So, if I may, my thanks and props to my five main men . . .
BOB FERBRACHE is the guy who has engineered all three "Live from Ebbets Field" volumes from his Absinthe Studios. Bob hung out at Ebbets Field back in the Seventies when he was just out of high school, doing anything to be a part of the burgeoning Denver music scene -- including taking the historical pictures that you now see reproduced in the "Live from Ebbets Field" CD booklets. He's now a studio ace who's overseen recordings by the likes of Woven Hand, DeVotchKa, Munly and Slim Cessna's Auto Club. I can never repay him for all of the resources he's poured into making our CDs a success.
DAVID GLASSER of Airshow Mastering, the Grammy-winning Boulder-based company, donated his time to make digital transfers from the original open-reel tapes for several "Vol. 3" tracks. Without him, you wouldn't be hearing Robin Trower and several other artists whose recordings had been compromised over time. He's a true aural scientist, and a gentleman to boot.
STEVE HOLT has done the layout and design on all three of the "Live from Ebbets Field" volumes. His trained eye and artistic sensibilities give the project the professional sheen it deserves, and his careful checking of the work rivals my own obsessiveness -- a substantial accomplishment.
PHIL MURRAY is ListenUp's marketing director and the co-executive producer of "Live from Ebbets Field." Back when he was hired by ListenUp in the Eighties, Phil made the first batch of digital transfers from the original reel-to-reel tapes, rescuing this treasure chest of Colorado musical history from obscurity. He has since been the driving force behind the Ebbets Field series. I couldn't ask for a better friend and collaborator.
ZAK PHILLIPS is KCUV's promotions director and the "Live from Ebbets Field" project co-ordinator. That means he gets to deal with the devilish details, from manufacturing to distribution. It's a thankless job -- until now. Thank you, Zak!
